Year 4 Residential Trip to Everdon
Fri 18 Nov 2022Last week I was lucky enough to be able to accompany our year 4 pupils on their residential trip to Everdon. We had an amazing time in the great outdoors building shelters, hunting for minibeasts and toasting marshmallows around the campfire. I would like to thank the children for making this trip so enjoyable. Empathy, kindness, teamwork and resilience were demonstrated in abundance throughout the week. We were very impressed with the resilience shown on our walks, especially our long walk to Mantles Heath. Thanks also go to Mrs Marriott, Mr Lockhart and Mrs Ding who gave up their time to allow the children to have this opportunity.

Year 6 Residential Trip to Whitemoor Lakes
Fri 21 Oct 2022We would like to say a huge well done to all our Year 6 children following their residential visit to Whitemoor Lakes this week. What some lovely sunshine they had. It was brilliant to be able to offer a residential visit again after three years and enable the children to create lifelong memories. Huge fun was had by all participating in a wide variety of activities, including canoeing, climbing, zipwire and fencing. It is always extremely rewarding to hear that the children have challenged themselves, overcome fears and supported each other. A big thank you to the children for their excellent behaviour, the staff who went and gave so much, as well as the ladies in the office for all their hard work in enabling this to happen.

MUGA (Multi Use Games Area)
The excitement of the children has been building since they returned to school as they have seen the development of the school’s new all-weather sports facility. Finally, after two years of grant applications, planning and meetings it is here and finished! This amazing sports facility will be used to deliver our PE curriculum, hopefully increase participation levels and provide a provision for the wider community. We are delighted with the end result and the children will be using it for their PE lessons over the coming weeks. Our Summer project is finally complete

Farewell and Good Luck Year 6
Mon 01 Aug 2022Farewell and Good Luck Year 6
Once again, it is time to bid a fond farewell to our year 6 children as they move on to their respective secondary schools. It is always sad to see them go but we know that they are all more than ready for the challenges and experiences that lie ahead. They should be very proud of everything that they have achieved over their time at Middleton Cheney Primary Academy and the young people that they have become. We hope that they will keep in touch and look forward to hearing all about what they achieve in the future. They will be very much missed by all of us, including the younger children, to whom they have shown so much kindness and empathy and have been fabulous role models to. On behalf of our whole school community, I wish them all the very best for the future.
Year 6 Art Project
Every year our Year 6 pupils complete an art project in the main entrance to the school which we display for the year, we always worry about the result of their art project and each year the children produce works that we are very proud to have in the entrance. This year the work that they have produced is fantastic and is based on their time here at MCPA. We would like to say a huge thank you to Clare Liddell of Tile Giant in Banbury who very kindly donated all the tiles for the project. She came into school recently to see the final product and was very impressed with the children’s creations. Well done and farewell Year 6 2022.

Year 5 DT Project
Fri 22 Jul 2022Our Year 5 children have been studying India in our History and Geography lessons during the summer term. We have also linked this topic to other curriculum areas such as English, RE, Art and Music. In our very final week of Year 5, we have also covered our Design Technology objectives by linking them with India. The children have been learning Food Technology skills over the last 3 days in order to prepare, cook and sample some Indian-inspired savoury dishes. On Monday, the children qualified in Food Hygiene and Kitchen Safety, as well as learning about nutrition and food groups. Throughout Tuesday and Wednesday, they prepped and cooked - learning many skills such as peeling, chopping, boiling, draining, combining and seasoning. On Thursday afternoon, we had the pleasure of celebrating this project by sharing with parents the art work, research and the delicious food we created. Everybody thoroughly enjoyed tucking in to Saag Aloo (spinach and potato - grown by the children at school), Chana Masala (chickpea curry), Rainbow Rice Salad (rice, cucumber, mixed peppers and coriander), chapattis and fresh mango. It has been a really fantastic way to end Year 5 with the children demonstrating the key values of teamwork, resilience and risk-taking. Mrs Sear and Mr Smith would like to say a huge "thank you" to everybody who helped, especially Mrs Charlton, Mrs Gordon, Mrs Chiles and the lovely kitchen-pod ladies!

Trustee Opportunities
Wed 06 Jul 2022Trustee Opportunities.
We are looking for two Trustees to join our governance team at Prime7 MAT. We are really proud of the impact that the Trust Board and the leaders and staff at all levels have had, particularly in getting KSPA from special measures to good. Not to mention our ‘strong good’ judgement at MCPA. The next part of our journey is to start to work with other schools and to think about what the future looks like in terms of growth as a Trust. We would particularly like to hear from any one with marketing or SEND expertise. Please contact Rachel Gallyot ceo@prime7.org.uk if you are interested in finding out more.
