Our aim is to ensure that all the children enjoy Science while developing their potential to the best of their ability. The National Curriculum provides a structure and skills progression for the Science curriculum taught throughout the school, which is linked, where possible, to the theme topics providing a creative scheme of work.
The curriculum is structured so that as the children's awareness of the world around them increases, their knowledge and understanding of scientific concepts can be developed.
Children are taught to take a scientific approach to investigations while covering experimental and investigative science. Wherever possible the learning is based on first hand experiences enabling pupils to work scientifically. Pupils learn to plan and carry out experiments, obtain, record and evaluate their findings. Science is taught in discrete lessons as well as through ongoing studies. Children also use computing to support their scientific learning where appropriate.
