Homework
Homework and helping your child succeed
We really value the idea of working together as a team and want you to feel part of the Y6 journey. Please use your child's diary to put notes in to ask any questions, both academic or social. We also may use the diaries to make you aware of any smaller issues, concerns or positive items. Just initialing the comment lets both sides know it has been seen.
Pupils will use the diaries to record their homework each week, which will usually consist of:
- A weekly Maths task that develops ideas and learning themes from lessons.
- Spellings when set
- Additional work to be set as necessary.
- Reading regularly 3 times a week)
Pupils will have their own log-in for My Maths where most of the homework will be set. Practicing times tables is always valuable to developing many areas of Maths. Alongside specific tasks we would hope the children ensure they find time in their busy weeks to read as much as possible. This can be with an adult or independently if the pupil is a fluent reader. Either way, discussing the text with your child is vitally important.
