Rome comes to Middleton

The Year 4 children brought their topic on Romans to life with a Roman immersion day today. The children dressed up in togas and gowns, learned how to write on soft clay tablets and made things to sell in their Roman forum. There was even a little feasting with many trying olives, dried figs and dates for the first time. Each pupil designed their own Roman style insignia and painted it onto a shield to use when they practised their battle lines and formations later in the afternoon. Looks like they had a great time!
