World Culture Day
16th June 2015
At the request of the School Council, which is formed from representatives of each class in KS1 and KS2, we recently held a school-wide World Culture Day. The day was a great success with children and staff having lots of fun learning about and experiencing different foods, art forms and customs.
Each year group chose a different country and wore clothing either associated with that country or matching the colours of the country’s flag. Even Mr King and our lovely office based staff were not to be left out - they were all kitted out as the USA.
Here are a few pictures from the day:
Year 1 did some Mexican dancing, sampled tortillas and various dips and had great fun bashing a piñata.
Year 2 were looking at the French language and worked in groups to make models of the Eiffel Tower from various materials such as Lego, cardboard tubes and fixable straws.
Year 4 were looking up pictures of famous Italian landmark buildings on the ipads then made models of them from clay. They also greatly enjoyed making and eating pizza.
