Designer Puppets
20th April 2016
Last term Year 4 undertook a design topic on puppets. They looked at different forms of puppets, investigated what they are made from and how they work, critiqued them and came up with a number of designs for their own puppets. After planning materials and discussing how to create the look and action they required, the children all made their own puppets sourcing materials, drawing and cutting out patterns and sewing them together. Some children made glove puppets or finger puppets using a variety of textures and thinking carefully about the look. Others took on the technical challenge of creating rod puppets and even marionettes (the ones with the strings).
At the end of the topic there was a puppet show for each child to show off their unique creation. It was lots of fun and they were rightfully proud of their work. Here are a selection.
