Pupil Teachers
27th Jan 2017
During their PSHE lessons, the children of 5S were asked to think about a skill they could teach to another member of the class, uses resources brought in from home or that are available in school. The children needed to plan what they would teach, how they would present it and what equipment they would need. They had fantastic fun identifying and showing off their strengths and reinforcing their self-confidence.
Both student teachers and their pupils thoroughly enjoyed the experience and the different style of learning enabled some pupils who tend to be more reserved in a whole class setting, to demonstrate effective teaching and communication skills they didn't know they had.
An important part of the task was self-reflection with the children evaluating their own teaching and the responses of their students, thinking about different learning styles and how to engage an audience. The children chose to show a wide range of skills such as teaching one another to speak Arabic, creating a plait for the first time, making origami shapes, drumming and even making sausages. What a talented bunch they are!
