A taste of Mexico for Year 2
12th Feb 2014
The Year 2 children had a fabulous time today, concluding their topic on ‘Where in the World is Mexico?’ with a themed party.
They enjoyed Mexican music and games along with food tasting. Most of the children tried lime juice, despite some initial reservations, and they tucked into tortillas and nachos with salsa, guacamole, nacho cheese and sour cream.
The children enjoyed posing for photos with the pinata before hanging it from the ceiling and hitting it with sticks! It was lots of fun but proved to be a little more robust than expected so Mrs Stubbs stepped into the breach to help open the stubborn creature and get the sweets out!
The children have also been making models of Mexican buildings and palaces out of clay and contributing to a book about this wonderful country and culture so they should have lots of facts and information to share with you.
