Everdon Adventure
7th Oct 2016
Both Year 4 classes have now returned from their residential at Everdon Outdoor Centre and report having a experiences which ranged from 'amazing' to 'awesome' to 'tremendous'! Mrs Sear's class who went at the beginning of the week have been writing thank you letters to the staff. Below are excerpts from some of these letters to give you a flavour of the two nights they spent away from home exploring the countryside.
Dear Isolda and Tanya.
“Thank you so much for letting us stay at your wonderful centre, it was a pleasure. I really appreciated when Isolda was teaching how to set a safe and careful fire and I really understood all of the instructions so thank you. Thank you again for a wonderful time inside Everdon wood, thank you so much for letting us explore where badger’s habitats are, and now I know that they are so strong and they can dig really far down so thank you. “ (Lauren)
“Thank you for all the lovely and awesome activities. My favourite activity was either building the dens or roasting marshmallows. The marshmallows were really crunchy. The dens were hard to make but I and my group did build a really awesome one and all the others were amazing as well because you helped us a lot making them. I had an amazing time at Everdon.” (Danny)
“I loved it at Everdon. I wish I could come again because it was so exciting. I enjoyed the den building the most. It was fun moving all the sticks and walking there through the squelchy mud and grass.” (Alfie)
“I was thrilled when we got to roast marshmallows. I loved it when we had dormitory parties. The centre was really pretty and gigantic.” (Maisy)
“I had a lovely time. It was a treat for me because I don’t have a bunk at home. Gloria is the best cook because I’ve never tasted a pizza so good. Building a den, making a bug hotel, walking and finding beech trees and badger holes was great, fantastic and more.” (Jessie)
“Thank you so much for helping us find deep, dark badger holes, they were really cool. I extraordinarily enjoyed constructing mini-beasts homes. I love mini-beasts.” (Noah)
“Thank you for cooking the food, it was so delicious. My favourite was cake with custard. I loved the lunches because they were so yummy. I loved the egg sandwiches. My breakfast was delicious and I really like beans on toast.” (Harry)
“The beds were as soft as bread with butter and snuggly as a teddy bear so I would love to come back and sleep in the bunk beds. It was tremendous. Thank you for the food, it was scrumptious. I was looking forward to it every morning, lunch and dinner. Lunch was the best though – yum.” (Lennon)
"I would love to come back and stay a bit more and I will remember the moment I came to Everdon Centre for ever." (Lorcan)
