Music

Music is taught as a separate subject and usually as a class lesson. We use a published scheme throughout the school to enable children to develop the skills of performing and composing and to learn how to listen and respond to a wide range of music from different times and cultures. They learn to recognise and use elements of music such as pitch, rhythm and dynamics, to play tuned and untuned percussion instruments, to sing with accuracy and control and to express their ideas and opinions about music using the appropriate vocabulary. Every child has the opportunity to learn the recorder from Year 3 onwards.

First Access consists of 10 weeks of FREE lessons to one whole year group which are funded through the Government’s National Music Plan. The main objective of the plan is to give every child the opportunity to learn a musical instrument for at least one term during their time in Key Stage 2. Funding support for the First Access projects comes from Arts Council England via the Music Hubs of which NMPAT - Northamptonshire Music and Performing Arts Trus is the lead partner for Northamptonshire.

Independent Music Solutions Partnership 

 

We can offer individual or small group tuition for woodwind, violin, guitar, keyboard and singing through Independent Music Solutions.  These are offered for children in Year 2 upwards, for cost of these lessons please contact the school office.
