Where’s the fish?
2nd June 2014
The giant fish has gone and the school foyer is plain white and empty! Don’t panic, the fish has been rehomed to the hall and the plain walls can only mean one thing – Year 6 are ready to dazzle us with their end of year large scale art project!
Each year following their SATs, the Year 6 children create fantastic pieces of art and a mural to fill the foyer. This is their legacy which will remain for the following 12 months to remind us of them after they have moved to their new secondary schools.
The theme always changes - previous years have seen Masai masks inspired by visiting Masai tribesmen and women, a recreation of the terracotta army linked to topic work, a homage to Olympic sports and athletes in 2012 and pop art.
What will it be this year? That’s a surprise that’s being kept under wraps for now. All we know so far is a request has gone out for donations of clean plastic containers, in all shapes, sizes and colours, and for lots of newspapers. If you have any to spare, please drop them into the yellow bin in the entrance area or ask the children to pass them to their teachers.
You can follow the progress of the artwork here with regular updates planned.
