What is the Parents’ Association?
The Middleton Cheney Primary Association Parent’s Committee is a registered charity and consists of a President (Mr Hartwell), a Chair, Secretary, Treasurer and committee members. did you know, all parents are automatically committee members and we are lucky to have 10 – 12 parents who attend our meetings on a regular basis. New members are always very welcome, come along and find out what it is all about! We meet at 7.30pm on the 2nd Wednesday of every month in the MCPA Staff Room.
The Committee for 2021/2022 is: Chair - Jonathan Thomson, Treasurer - Sarah Nunn, Secretaries - Gareth Davies and Kate Davies.
We try and run a variety of events throughout the year, some catering just for adults and others aimed at all the children in the school. The aim is to bring the school community together to have fun whilst raising funds to provide additional equipment and resources for all of our children. We are always on the lookout for new ideas, so please if you have any suggestions or would like to become involved, please get in touch.
All monies raised are spent on the children and we contribute to both large projects and small ones. The school and the student council (pupil led) let us know what they would like and need. It does take planning to ensure the funds are spent wisely, so we’ll let you know in due course what projects are to be funded from last year’s profits. Over the last 2 years we have contributed £20,000 to playground improvement works, as well as spending £1500 on other smaller projects like providing new games for each class for wet weather play.

How does the committee work?
We have a group of parents who attend most meetings and play an active role in our event organization, and a few more who attend meetings as and when they can make it. Being part of the PA isn’t all about attending meetings and we fully appreciate that life with Primary School aged children is already hectic without layering on extra commitments. We would love to have some new faces and fresh ideas at our meetings this year, even if you can’t commit to coming each month. Please consider coming along and joining in. A typical meeting agenda usually covers discussion about how any events in the last month went and plans for events in the coming month, organising shopping lists, volunteers, publicity for events and newsletters.
How can I get involved?
If you can’t come along to meetings (or it’s just not your thing) we still need your support. There are many opportunities to volunteer throughout the year to help at PA events. Running the Summer Fair requires over 70 volunteers alone!
What we really need is an army of volunteers who are happy to cover a stall at a fair, help with an after-school craft activity, accompany Santa on his Christmas fundraising float, or dish out some drinks and snacks at a school disco. We will try and give as much detail as we can each time we ask for volunteers, so that it is clear what we will be asking you to do on the day. We will always send out information in advance about how many volunteers we need and let you know how you sign up. Sign up on our website at www.pta-events.co.uk/mcpa
Even if you’re not able to come along to meetings or volunteer for events, you can still support us in a variety of ways. And finally, but probably most importantly, please come along, enjoy, and support our events!
