Rain can't stop (pancake) play
28th Feb 2017
Well, as forecast, the heavens opened just as the Year 5 Sports Leaders were about to set up on the playground for the school pancake races. Unperturbed, the races went ahead in the hall. Sadly this meant there was only enough space for one year group at a time but the children still seemed to enjoy themselves. Anyone who crossed the line first won a Housepoint for their team but the real point of this day is for the children to have lots of fun together and to practice good sportsmanship in cheering for each other.
Having less time to wait for their individual races meant more children than usual had a complete pancake to race with (usually a fair amount has been 'nibbled' whilst they've been warming up). As you can see from the photos though, plenty of post-race nibbling still occurred!
A big thank you to the Year 5 Sports Leaders who did an amazing job not only setting up the hall, but taking care of the younger children, encouraging them and giving them clear direction, ensuring they all felt comfortable and knew what they needed to do. You were excellent role models. Many apologies for the original post yesterday when I referred to you as Year 6 Sports Leaders. It was my mistake and shows how mature and well organised you were in representing your year group and the school.
