Final Farewells
25th July 2014
Wednesday saw us wave a fond farewell to Mrs Quy who is moving on to become Director of Education at Danetre and Southbrook Learning Village.
In honour of her years running the school choir, a musical send off was secretly planned with the whole school learning the songs ‘So Long Farewell’ from The Sound of Music and ‘We’ll Meet Again’ to sing in the final assembly of the year. Not surprisingly, Mrs Quy was very emotional and so were many other members of staff. We are very sorry to lose her tremendous skills as a teacher and as a Maths specialist, but we wish her all the very best for the future. Her new school are indeed lucky to have her – she will be greatly missed.
We also waved goodbye (temporarily) to Mrs Stubbs who has begun her maternity leave. We hope all goes very smoothly and that her baby is one of those amazing children who sleeps through the night from a very young age! We look forward to hearing the news.
Good luck also to our Year 6s who left us on Wednesday. I finish with the words of Mr Percival in the latest newsletter,
“As we prepare for the summer break I would just like to say thank you for sharing your children with us this year – it has been a really enjoyable 12 months and I can’t believe how quickly it has gone. Two weeks ago we had an OFSTED inspector looking round the school and she commented on how impressed she was with the friendly and hardworking behaviour demonstrated by all the children in class and how well they played outside. It is something that I think we sometimes take for granted but it is something that we should be really proud of. I think much of the credit for this has to be given to our current year 6 who have set such a good example to the younger children. They have worked their socks off in class and have produced some of the best results that we have ever had in their SATs. They have been such positive role models to the other children at playtimes. We wish them all the best as they move on to their secondary schools.”
