Tarantulas and Palaces
6th Aug 2014
At the end of term, Year 1 and Year 2 went on some exciting trips, making the most of the summer sunshine.
Year 2 finished off their topic on Sir Winston Churchill by visiting his birthplace, the magnificent Blenheim Palace. They toured the house and some of the extensive grounds, finding out more about his life and seeing artifacts related to his life and work. They also had lots of fun in the maze, thankfully not managing to lose anyone!
Year 1 headed for Stratford Butterfly Farm where they had a hands on time with giant millipedes, butterflies, moths and even tarantulas. A warning that there are lots of pictures of the spiders following if you're a little squeamish.
The children were extremely curious and brave, many holding these delicate creatures. They also saw many tropical flowers and plants, including growing bananas and an ornamental pond full of coi carp.
