Governing Board Vacancies
Fri 20 Jan 2023Governing Board Vacancies
Have you thought about becoming a School Governor at a school in your local area or know anybody who might?
Middleton Cheney Primary Academy are currently looking to recruit a School Governor to join our Local Governing Board. This position would be suitable for someone who has enthusiasm, commitment and an interest in education and wishes to develop their skills around governance and strategic leadership. A background in education is not essential as training will be given. We would particularly welcome new Governors who have transferable skills developed at work such as finance, health and safety, safeguarding, buildings and premises or who have a particularly good understanding of the community served by the school.
We are a two-form entry Primary school situated in the village of Middleton Cheney. We are part of the Prime 7 MAT, a Multi-Academy Trust that includes primary schools in Kings Sutton and Chipping Warden. Our Ofsted Inspection from Dec 2021 rated us as continuing to be ‘Good’. At Middleton Cheney Primary Academy, we want our children to be confident in their own abilities and to reach their fullest potential through a rich, challenging and ambitious curriculum, high quality teaching and pastoral care. We provide a nurturing and supportive community where every child and adult is valued and respected.

Thank you to our Parents' Association
Mon 05 Dec 2022It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Last week school staff and members of the PTA decorated our school hall and entrance area. A huge thank you goes to our PTA for purchasing some new trees and decorations for us. They look wonderful and the children were very excited to see the school decorated when they arrived this morning.

A huge thank you to Panto Bus
Mon 05 Dec 2022We kicked off the festive season on Friday with a fantastic pantomime performed by The Panto Bus. This year it was the story of Dick Whittington and the cast performed it twice. Once for our Foundation and Key Stage 1 children and once for our children in Key Stage 2. Judging by the positive comments and the joy on the faces of the audience as they left the performances, I would say that a good time was had by all.
We would like to say a huge thank you to the Panto Bus Company for putting on the performances free of charge. Over the last couple of years we have had to watch an online version of the pantomime in classes so to be able to come together as a school community and watch the performance live was a real treat.

Year 4 Residential Trip to Everdon
Fri 18 Nov 2022Last week I was lucky enough to be able to accompany our year 4 pupils on their residential trip to Everdon. We had an amazing time in the great outdoors building shelters, hunting for minibeasts and toasting marshmallows around the campfire. I would like to thank the children for making this trip so enjoyable. Empathy, kindness, teamwork and resilience were demonstrated in abundance throughout the week. We were very impressed with the resilience shown on our walks, especially our long walk to Mantles Heath. Thanks also go to Mrs Marriott, Mr Lockhart and Mrs Ding who gave up their time to allow the children to have this opportunity.

Year 6 Residential Trip to Whitemoor Lakes
Fri 21 Oct 2022We would like to say a huge well done to all our Year 6 children following their residential visit to Whitemoor Lakes this week. What some lovely sunshine they had. It was brilliant to be able to offer a residential visit again after three years and enable the children to create lifelong memories. Huge fun was had by all participating in a wide variety of activities, including canoeing, climbing, zipwire and fencing. It is always extremely rewarding to hear that the children have challenged themselves, overcome fears and supported each other. A big thank you to the children for their excellent behaviour, the staff who went and gave so much, as well as the ladies in the office for all their hard work in enabling this to happen.

MUGA (Multi Use Games Area)
The excitement of the children has been building since they returned to school as they have seen the development of the school’s new all-weather sports facility. Finally, after two years of grant applications, planning and meetings it is here and finished! This amazing sports facility will be used to deliver our PE curriculum, hopefully increase participation levels and provide a provision for the wider community. Farewell and Good Luck Year 6
Mon 01 Aug 2022Farewell and Good Luck Year 6
Once again, it is time to bid a fond farewell to our year 6 children as they move on to their respective secondary schools. It is always sad to see them go but we know that they are all more than ready for the challenges and experiences that lie ahead. They should be very proud of everything that they have achieved over their time at Middleton Cheney Primary Academy and the young people that they have become. We hope that they will keep in touch and look forward to hearing all about what they achieve in the future. They will be very much missed by all of us, including the younger children, to whom they have shown so much kindness and empathy and have been fabulous role models to. On behalf of our whole school community, I wish them all the very best for the future.
Year 6 Art Project
Every year our Year 6 pupils complete an art project in the main entrance to the school which we display for the year, we always worry about the result of their art project and each year the children produce works that we are very proud to have in the entrance. This year the work that they have produced is fantastic and is based on their time here at MCPA. We would like to say a huge thank you to Clare Liddell of Tile Giant in Banbury who very kindly donated all the tiles for the project. She came into school recently to see the final product and was very impressed with the children’s creations. Well done and farewell Year 6 2022.
