Young Sports Leaders

At Middleton Cheney Primary Academy, our year 6 children are given the opportunity to complete their Young Sports Leaders' Award, which aims to develop leadership qualities and the skills needed in order to safely deliver activities that engage and enthuse young children. 

Following the completion of this qualification, the children take part in our sports leader's programme in school, in which they plan, deliver and evaluate sessions on a weekly basis to key stage one pupils. Their goal is to increase the amount of time in which our children are being physically active. Observations are completed over the course of the year, and regular feedback is provided by teachers in areas such as demonstration, health and safety, and engagement to assist with their progression. 

Year on year it is incredible to see the level of responsibility our young sports leaders take in ensuring their sessions are the best they can be and as exciting as possible for the children that attend. The programme is a platform for growth in confidence and professionalism - creating the building blocks for future success.
