Year 2 - Penguins
Last week the children in Year 2 wrote some fantastic poems all about penguins! They worked hard to use adjectives, nouns and verbs to create a poem and then wrote a penguin acrostic poem too. Some examples of their poems can be seen below.
In art, the children have had a go at following a set of instructions to sketch penguins. We’ve included some of their fantastic work for you to see!
There work on penguins has also linked nicely to there topic lessons. They have learnt that Antarctica, where many species of penguins can be found, is one of the seven continents. This week they started to find out about Robert Scott who went on an expedition to the South Pole. While in Antarctica, Scott and his expedition team studied penguins.

Exploring the cold ocean
Nesting on the cold ice
Gliding on the ice
Under the mummy’s tummy
In the water looking for food
Not knowing that something’s coming.
